NEWS

As you are likely to be aware from media coverage of Corona Virus and Covid-19, Aquinas FC need to ensure the safety of it's footballing family both immediate and extended.

After further discussion with committee we would like to advise the following, particularly given increasing numbers of confirmed cases in Northern Ireland and also with the expectation that the infection will become much more widespread - the below statement outlines a plan for managing the health of our players and their extended families.

Symptoms + necessary precautions

  • Familiarise yourself with the symptoms - please check with NHS advice https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
  • Protect yourself from chances of
    • Wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds
    • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work or prior to eating food
    • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
    • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
    • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards
    • Try and avoid close contact with people who are unwell
    • Players should not share waterbottles and should clearly label their own bottles when at training and at matches

What should I do if I come into contact with someone who is confirmed or later confirmed as infected

    • Be responsibly and self-isolate for a period of 14 days. It is important that you notify others that you have been in contact with that there is potential that they too may be at risk.
    • Notify the Head Coach of your team immediately.
    • If in event a player or coach has been in contact with a confirmed case, we will suspend all activities for team(s) if there is a perceived level of risk from a confirmed transmission of the virus.
    • If you become unwell you should use the NHS 111 services. Do not go to your GP or out-of-hours clinic.
    More Information
    • NHS provides the 111 service either online at https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 or by telephone.
    • As a club we understand majority of our players may not be severely impacted by the virus, but it is our duty to help ensure the virus is contained and doesn't spread wider, particularly the elderly and those with heart or lung conditions who may be less able to cope.
    • We will continue to monitor advice from Public Health Authority, Irish FA and any associated football league.

    Aquinas Specific

    • Any player or coach who thinks they may have contact with an infected person, please refrain from attending coaching sessions or matches.
    • In the coming weeks/days the likelihood is that leagues/matches may be postponed or cancelled. Its important that your contact details are up to date and you review messages from the club/coaches. We will endeavour to keep you up to date as best we can and as quickly as we can.

    Thanks for your time.
